CREATIVE FORECASTING WAS BORN
In March 1988, Mary Anne and Pegi were at Murphy’s Tavern in
Colorado Springs discussing the idea of publishing a thematic newsletter for
Activity and Recreation Professionals. The goal was twofold: to improve the
quality of lives for seniors and provide Activity and Recreation Professionals
a publication that would make their professional lives easier.
The first newsletter was the January / February 1989 issue and
it was 12 pages. Starting with the September 1990 issue, the publication went
monthly. Additional pages were included as subscribers’ suggestions for
improving the “newsletter” kept rolling in, and the format expanded over the
years to a 44-page magazine. With the June 1998 issue, the 8-page Trivia Plus
supplement was added. Beginning with the October 1999 issue, Trivia Plus (plus
4 extra pages) were added to the regular magazine for a total of 56 pages.
In 2002, Activity Planning Simplified, a software to create
activity calendars, track resident participation, and print individual
participation records, and many other functions, was released.
Starting in 2006, Specialty Books including Word Pictures Volume
1, Word Pictures Volume 2, A Year’s Worth of Word Games Volume 1 & 2, and
Crossword Puzzles & Word Searches Volume 1 were added to Creative
Forecasting’s publishing family.
